Hiring Versus Purchasing a Skip Bin

by Jessica Lowe

For most homes and businesses, hiring a skip bin is an obvious choice. The skip is delivered to your location, you fill it up and it's hauled away when the rental period expires. While hiring is the most common option, there are also benefits to purchasing your own skip bin.

Every home or business has its own specific needs for waste removal. Some may need waste removed on almost a daily basis (such as restaurants dealing with perishable waste), while other locations are more flexible in their use of skips (such as private homes).

Depending on your waste disposal needs, purchasing a skip may work better for you than renting. Here's what you should consider before making a decision.

1. The amount of waste you produce

If your establishment produces large quantities of waste, you may be better off investing in a skip bin. This is because you can purchase the exact size that works best for you, and you can decide on a schedule for having it emptied and returned. It can be inconvenient having to rely on the schedule of a skip bin rental service whenever you need waste removed from your site. If you purchase a skip, you also have more control over how the waste is disposed and recycled.

On the other hand, if your establishment produces only small quantities of waste, it may not make financial sense to purchase a skip. Hiring may fit your waste disposal needs better because you're more flexible in how waste can be handled.

2. The size and location of your property

If your home or business is located far away from the nearest skip bin company, you may consider purchasing your own skip. This may help you save on the higher transportation costs that a skip rental service would charge to access your location.

In addition, if you have enough space on your property to safely house a skip bin, you can purchase one and use it according to your own preferences.

3. The cost of purchasing versus renting

It's a good idea to estimate how much you would spend when renting vs purchasing a skip. If the cheapest skip bin rental near you would cost more in the long run than managing your own skip, it may be a good idea to invest in purchasing one so as to save on costs.

4. Your specific schedule

Purchasing and maintaining a skip bin is time consuming. Ask yourself if you have the time to manage your own skip and if you can do it effectively. Those with knowledge and time to manage their own waste removal may find purchasing a skip bins as a better option. However, if your schedule is tight, a skip bin hire service can take the work and time of managing the skip off your hands.

Clean Garbage Bins, Organised Rubbish and Other Garbage Removal Tips

Welcome to my blog. My name is Connie, and I love to write about all kinds of topics. As a self-proclaimed "clean freak", I have a lot of strategies on keeping my house immaculate, and ironically, that attitude extends to my garbage as well. I take steps to make sure the bin stays clean so it doesn't attract bugs or termites. I organise the rubbish so I can use some for composting, send some to the recycling centres and keep my rubbish bags relatively small. I also dabble with other ideas and strategies. If your rubbish smells, if there is too much of it or if you have any other questions or concerns about garbage removal, you have come to the right place. Please explore these posts – I hope they entertain and inform you.
